There is something very satisfying about a table accessory that was made when salt and pepper apparently deserved formal eveningwear.
This matching pair of Webster Co. shakers stands about 4½ inches tall with slender baluster bodies, pedestal bases, and pierced dome tops. The underside carries the Webster hallmark and the B48 pattern or model marking. The polished silver surface has the expected tarnish and fine wear of pieces that have survived decades of dinner tables.
Webster is well known for American sterling table and vanity pieces, and comparable baluster shaker pairs are generally dated to the early 20th century. They are elegant enough for a formal table but small enough to display beautifully in a silver collection.
Condition: Good vintage condition with tarnish, surface scratches, small marks, and normal age wear. Both shakers are present. The base carries the Webster Co. hallmark and B48 marking.
