A beautifully simple tool from the days when kitchen gadgets did not require batteries, instructions, or an app.
This vintage wooden pestle features an elongated conical grinding end with a rounded, bulb-shaped handle. Its unusual tapered form was designed for grinding or crushing ingredients against the sides and bottom of a compatible mortar, making it equally at home among vintage kitchenware, apothecary tools, or an old-fashioned collection of practical household objects.
The pestle measures approximately 10 inches long. The natural wood has developed a warm, softly aged appearance with visible grain and signs of previous use.
Condition: Vintage used condition with age-related surface wear, discoloration, small marks, and variations in the wood. Mortar is not included.
A wonderfully tactile old tool that also happens to look quite good sitting in a crock with wooden spoons, which is probably a much easier retirement than whatever it spent its first life grinding.
