Once upon a time, Easter baskets contained more than just chocolate.
This cheerful little tin lithograph Easter egg was the sort of treasure a child might discover tucked between jelly beans and a chocolate bunny sometime in the 1950s or early 1960s. Bright yellow with playful hens, chicks, and flowers, it opens to reveal a spot for candy, coins, or whatever small treasures seemed important at the time.
These metal eggs were sold in dime stores and Easter displays across the country — inexpensive, colorful, and just sturdy enough to survive decades tucked away in a drawer.
Today they make delightful additions to vintage Easter décor, spring displays, or holiday tin collections.
A small piece of Easter nostalgia that still opens with the same quiet little click it did seventy years ago.
