Santa has apparently decided the sleigh was too predictable and gone with a basket instead.
This vintage ceramic Christmas piece features Santa in a bright orange-red coat pulling a generously sized basket-form sleigh. The basket has wonderful woven texture and warm brown antiquing, while Santa carries his sack over his shoulder and leans into the job like Christmas Eve has already run late.
The open basket makes this especially fun to style. Use it as a small holiday planter, candy or nut dish, or fill it with bottlebrush trees, ornaments, greenery, or other tiny Christmas treasures. It is substantial enough to stand on its own as part of a vintage holiday vignette.
The underside is unmarked aside from an impressed mold number that appears to read 3830. Maker and exact age are unknown.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, light crazing/marks and minor manufacturing or finish irregularities visible in the photos. No maker's mark was found. Please review photos closely as they are part of the condition description.
