This brooch has the energy of a tiny artifact recovered from a glamorous alternate universe.
The approximately 1 3/4-inch geometric brooch is built around a domed oval art-glass cabochon that flashes green, aqua, blue, gold, and orange as the light moves across it. The center has a crackled, foil-like effect beneath the glass, surrounded by a textured gold-tone metal setting with raised dots and folded corner details.
The design is bold and architectural, with a modernist, almost Brutalist feel, but softened by that wildly iridescent center. There is no visible maker’s mark in the photos, so I’m resisting the antique-dealer temptation to assign it a glamorous name it didn’t sign.
Condition: Good vintage condition with visible patina, finish wear, surface marks and age-related darkening to the metal. The cabochon appears secure and the pin hardware is present. No maker’s mark observed.
