Long before drones were hovering over every backyard barbecue, someone captured this beautiful aerial view of Idaho Falls, Idaho and turned it into a postcard.

This vintage color postcard shows Idaho Falls from above, with the Snake River winding through town and farmland stretching into the distance. The back describes Idaho Falls as located on the Snake River and notes the area's famous Idaho potatoes and varied farm crops. Because naturally, if Idaho was going to send a postcard, potatoes were going to make an appearance.

The card credits the color photo to Cal Harbert of Walla Walla, Washington, with Mike Roberts Natural Color production in Berkeley, California, and Brownell News Agency in Idaho Falls as distributor. It is a lovely little travel souvenir for collectors of Idaho history, western state postcards, aerial views, Snake River imagery, agricultural history, or anyone with a soft spot for small-town postcards that were once the original vacation status update.

Great for a postcard collection, Idaho-themed display, travel memory board, or a vintage ephemera flat lay.
