Before receipts lived in inboxes, somebody had to put them somewhere. The answer was apparently: directly onto a sharp metal spike.
This vintage receipt holder has a heavy cast-metal base with paneled decorative sides, a deep green finish, and a tall center spike designed to hold receipts, order slips, tickets, or other small paper records. The underside is marked “Made in U.S.A.”
It is a wonderfully specific piece of old shop, restaurant, or office equipment, and exactly the sort of utilitarian object that somehow becomes more interesting after several decades of not being necessary anymore.
Condition: Good vintage condition with finish wear, scuffs, and oxidation consistent with age and use. The spike remains present and pointed. Please handle carefully.
