This is one of those small objects that immediately asks you to look twice.
The silver napkin ring is constructed in openwork with rows of traditional Chinese cash-coin motifs, each with a square center and character-style decoration. The interior rim carries impressed character marks. The pierced construction gives the piece plenty of visual detail without making it feel heavy.
It would be a striking addition to a mixed collection of antique and vintage napkin rings, Asian decorative arts, or a table set deliberately assembled one interesting piece at a time.
