I would like to congratulate whoever made this on committing fully to the birdhouse pun.
This vintage ceramic birdhouse is marked “FOR WREN-T” on the front, because apparently the tiny prospective tenant is expected to understand both English and real estate humor. The elongated green-and-cream glazed form measures roughly 7½ to 8 inches long and has a peaked roof, round opening, and two wooden pegs.
The soft green glaze, crazing, and slightly odd sculptural shape make it especially good for cottage, garden, or whimsical wall decor. Whether a wren ever actually signed a lease is unfortunately lost to history.
Condition: Good vintage decorative condition with age-related crazing, light surface wear, and wear to the wooden pegs. No maker mark has been identified.
