This is one of those objects that makes you stop and ask, “What incredibly specific daily task existed in 1897?” Possibly a Walking Stick or Parasol handle (but not confirmed)
An ornate Victorian-era vanity tool with engraved floral detailing and beautiful aged brass tones, likely used as a glove stretcher or button hook accessory. The floral engraving is surprisingly delicate and still catches the light beautifully despite the age and wear. The handle has that soft, warm patina only old metal develops after decades of existing in someone’s dressing room drawer next to perfume bottles and handwritten letters.
Honestly, this thing feels like it belonged to someone dramatically getting ready for a train ride while ignoring social expectations.
A wonderful decorative object for vanity displays, antique sewing collections, maximalist décor, or anyone building a home that quietly says “I would absolutely survive in a period drama.”
Marked with WJB&Co Rolled Gold. Approximately 1895-1922
