A proper little English egg cup, because breakfast apparently once had standards.
This footed egg cup is decorated in Spode's classic blue-and-white Camilla pattern, with floral transfer decoration and a patterned border around the upper portion. The underside is clearly backstamped “Spode’s ‘Camilla’ Copeland England,” giving us the rare luxury of an antique identification that does not require squinting at an illegible mark and consulting three contradictory books.
Documented examples with this backstamp appear from the early-to-mid 20th century, including examples dated around the 1930s and 1950s. At roughly 2½ inches tall, it is a charming little addition to a blue-and-white collection, breakfast table, or shelf of English transferware.
Condition: Good vintage condition with light surface wear and minor age-related marks. Backstamp reads “Spode’s Camilla Copeland England.” No obvious chips or cracks.
