I adore objects that combine two completely unrelated things.
Someone took a violin.
Someone took a landscape painting.
And then they said, "Let's make those the same object."
Wonderful.
This brooch feels like a tiny postcard from somewhere you've never been. The miniature scenery tucked inside the violin shape makes it feel equal parts jewelry, souvenir, and tiny artwork. That's my favorite category of antique. Objects that refuse to fit neatly into one category.
