Two tiny fairy worlds, because apparently one was not enough.
This charming pair of round framed silhouette miniatures comes from “The Enchanted Series” by Marcelle D. Shears and was produced by Peter Bates Ltd. in England. One scene is titled “Passing Time” and the other “Travelling Clock.”
Both feature whimsical black fairy silhouettes surrounded by oversized flowers, mushrooms, dandelion-like seed heads, and other wonderfully storybook-scale details. Each miniature is set in a round brass-tone frame with a hanging loop and soft tan backing.
The labels on the reverse identify the artist, series, Peter Bates Ltd., and Made in England origin. The slight differences in the company location printed on the two labels are part of the pieces as found.
Condition: Vintage condition with age spotting/foxing and discoloration visible on the paper images, plus surface wear and patina to the brass-tone frames and hanging hardware. Backing shows normal wear. Sold together as the photographed pair.
They are small, odd, charming, and look like illustrations from a book you were definitely not supposed to open after midnight.
