A wonderfully dramatic vintage gold-tone metal pillar candle holder with pierced scrolling panels, foliate decoration, a beaded candle band, and an applied classical woman's portrait medallion framed by a wreath. The upward-curving openwork surrounds a pillar candle and throws beautiful shadows when lit. It has just enough old-world drama to suggest either a quiet evening with a Victorian novel or the beginning of a séance.
