This is the kind of clock that refuses to be ignored. Featuring an ornate gilt-tone metal case with a cherub figure beside the clock face, this New Haven piece brings maximum antique drama in a relatively small footprint. The dial is marked New Haven U.S.A., and the clock face reacts brightly under blacklight. That reaction suggests the dial may contain early luminous paint, possibly radium-based, as was common on older clocks, but this has not been professionally tested. In other words: beautiful, historic, and not something to lick, which frankly should be standard advice for most antiques. Condition: Clock movement is untested. Age-related finish wear, oxidation, and patina are present throughout the metal case. Dial is intact and hands are present. Blacklight-reactive dial noted. Confidence notes: New Haven identification is visible on the dial. Radium is not confirmed; described only as blacklight-reactive and a possible early luminous paint candidate.
