Heintz Sterling on Bronze California Pepper Vase

Some antiques whisper. This one has absolutely no need to.

This early 20th-century Heintz Art Metal Shop vase is made of bronze with applied sterling silver decoration in a stylized California pepper overlay. The warm, aged bronze surface and darkened silver overlay give it exactly the kind of untouched Arts & Crafts character collectors look for. The flared form measures approximately 8 inches tall.

The underside carries the Heintz diamond shop mark, “Sterling on Bronze,” the 1912 patent reference, and form number 3607 B. Heintz Art Metal Shop of Buffalo, New York became known for combining richly patinated bronze with sterling silver overlays, particularly naturalistic designs like vines, leaves, berries, and flowers.

Condition: Antique condition with substantial natural patina, oxidation, surface spotting, and age-related wear. The silver has intentionally not been polished. Please review photos closely, as the existing surface is part of the piece’s character and collector appeal.
