This little basket has the kind of texture that makes you want to pick it up and look more closely.
Handwoven in a traditional coiled construction, the basket is made from natural plant fibers in warm earthy brown and tan tones. The tightly wrapped spiral base rises into shallow sides, while a darker wrapped rim gives the piece a subtle bit of contrast. At approximately 5 inches across, it is small enough to tuck onto a shelf or dresser but substantial enough to add plenty of handmade character.
It would make a lovely catchall for rings, coins, keys, or other tiny treasures, or simply display it as part of a collection of folk art, primitive décor, woven baskets, or natural-texture pieces.
This is an older handmade piece and shows its age. There is visible wear to the fibers, including some fraying, loosened or missing wrapping, and an area of damage/loss along the rim. Rather than feeling pristine, it has the irregularity and patina that come with a basket that has clearly lived a life.
