Some collectibles are cute. Some are charming. And some are tiny reminders that people used to visit each other with baskets instead of sending a vague text that says “thinking of you.”
This Goebel miniature is Visiting an Invalid, design 256-P, First Edition. The base is marked Goebel, USA 1989, 256-P, 1st Edition. The original box is marked Visiting an Invalid, 256-P, number 037218, First Edition 10,000. The figure shows a small child carrying a basket and an apple, rendered in the sweet, detailed style associated with M.I. Hummel and Goebel miniatures.
It is a lovely piece for collectors of the miniature series and a thoughtful addition to a curio cabinet or Hummel display. Small, sentimental, and approximately one hundred times more wholesome than anything currently happening on the internet.
Condition: Figurine appears to be in good pre-owned condition with no obvious chips or repairs visible in the photos. Original box is included and shows shelf wear, edge wear, creasing, and some flap wear. Please review photos for details.
Confidence notes: High confidence identification based on clear box and base markings: Visiting an Invalid, 256-P, First Edition.
