Before bathroom vanities came with drawers, lighting strips and fourteen competing bottles of skincare, there was the washstand set. And frankly, this one had better taste.

This antique two-piece wash basin and pitcher set was made by Wedgwood & Co. of England and carries the green “Imperial Porcelain – Wedgwood & Co. – England” crown mark. It is important to note that Wedgwood & Co. was a separate English manufacturer from the better-known Josiah Wedgwood company. Reference material dates this form of Imperial Porcelain mark to the early 20th century, with examples appearing from about 1906 onward.

The basin measures approximately 14 inches across. Both pieces share a wonderfully graphic pattern of black checkerboard bands and black linear trelliswork wrapped with pink and purple roses and green foliage. Fine black bow-and-swag decoration adds another layer beneath the florals, and a thin gold edge finishes the basin.

Together they make a substantial decorative statement for a bedroom, bathroom, guest room, floral display, or anywhere that needs something with a little Edwardian-era confidence.

Condition: Good antique condition overall with age-related surface wear, staining/marks inside the basin, light decoration wear and typical signs of use. No obvious major chips or cracks were visible in the supplied photos, but this is a large antique set and buyers should review all photographs carefully. Gold trim and transfer decoration show expected wear.

Note on shipping: this is a large and fragile item. Shipping costs are high because of the weight and fragility of the item. Collectors in the PNW/Spokane/Seattle area can arrange to meet or for delivery for an updated delivery fee.

A note for collectors: this is Wedgwood & Co., not Josiah Wedgwood & Sons.
